Corsair Spec-Alpha Gaming Case
Following on from the same design cues as Corsairs Bulldog living room gaming case, the Spec-Alpha is hard to miss with its aggressive angular front and top panel design, and contrasted colour ways. It shares its internal layout with the similarly sized Spec-01 however the large mesh front and top opens the case up to superior airflow, and space for up to five 120mm fans. The optical drive has also been omitted to aide in better airflow, and because of this there is space for a 240mm AIO liquid cooler at the front or top of the case. Included are two LED 120mm fans installed as standard at the front to accompany the outer colour accents of the case.
Based on the new 14nm process AMD have managed to achieve a 40 percent improvement in instructions pre-clock against its previous generation AMD core. Alongside this TDP is lower, heralding a significantly more power efficient generation of CPUs. The base RYZEN 1700 features 8 cores and a total of 16 threads providing a dramatic improvement for heavily multithreaded applications and at a much more affordable price than the closest offering from Intel. Each RYZEN CPU also has a base and boost clock allowing cooler operation and longevity when at idle, and a performance boost when required in applications such as gaming, and rendering.
Hydro Series H75 Liquid CPU Cooler
The Hydro Series H75 Liquid Cooler is the bigger brother to the H55 cooler. For ease of installation, and case compatibility you get a 120mm by 25mm radiator which provides and ample cooling surface area, however you also get two 120mm PWM static pressure optimised fans in a push pull configuration. This helps force air through the radiator more directly, and passes it out of the PC case for more effective cooling.
NVIDIA™ GeForce® Graphics
Pascal For The Masses. NVIDIA’s newest Pascal based cards have already proven themselves to be some of the fastest GPUs on the market to date, pushing past previous 900 series offerings. The new GTX 1060 is no exception providing better performance than previous GTX 970s in many applications and games. One of the most impressive things about this card though is its price. The sub £300 card will set you up for VR gaming and has around 3x better performance than previous the generation GTX 960. Overall a much welcomed inclusion to the existing line-up of mid range Gaming GPUs.
Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM
At the heart of Corsair performance RAM modules is cherry picked silicon that has passed stricter tolerances and is able to perform more efficiently at higher frequencies. To increase the thermal efficiency when operating at higher speed, Corsair performance RAM is equipped with an improved cooling cooling solution, a heatsink that sandwiches the memory module. Another great feature of Corsair gaming RAM is the support for XMP profiles, Extreme Memory Profiles is something we take advantage of in the BIOS to set up the PC with optimal clock speeds and latencies.
Fast SSD Storage
Samsung is a very dominant player with a strong desire to push the SSD game along, always first to market with new technologies, aggressively bringing its manufacturing costs down by manufacturing the NAND and controller itself. The latest generation 850 models have a unique design allowing for SSDs as big as 2TB to become a reality, thanks to V-NAND flash architecture which overcomes density limitations by stacking 32 cell layers vertically.
Corsair Quality PSU
Corsair's 650W VS PSU is the best companion for a system of this type, its 80 Plus Bronze certified showing its strong green credentials and it's quiet and unobtrusive. On top of that, this PSU that will not let you down, it comes with the legendary Corsair badge which stands for reliability and quality, and looks smart with the black braided cables.
